When the sun goes down and the night owls come out to play, Ko Samui 다낭 밤문화 takes on a character of its own. With a mood that’s festive, vibrant, friendly and fun in equal measures, it’s hard to beat a night out on the town at magical Ko Samui. From cocktail lounges and refined bars to atmospheric beach parties and raucous nightclubs, everyone you meet is out seeking exactly the same thing – a taste of the legendary Ko Samui nightlife.
When you escape from the privacy of Laem Sett Beach, you’ll find pubs and bars galore, with the popular resort areas of Chaweng and Lamai being by far the most enticing for all you party goers, where the party truly never ends.
Ko Samui nightlife, in Chaweng especially, is known for attracting high-end DJs from around the world to entertain the revelers at its crowded nightclubs and packed beach parties, which almost always last much longer than the proscribed 2am closing time. Samui’s oldest and one of its largest bars, The Green Mango, is a prime example – often remaining open well into the wee hours of the morning.
The Reggae Pub, another of Samui’s oldest and finest, remains to this day one of its most popular bars – with an eclectic mix of reggae chill-out sounds and funky house beats taking over once the crowds begin to pile in through the door, it provides more than enough entertainment for seeking a hectic Ko Samui nightlife experience.
But if changing into your dancing shoes doesn’t sound like much fun, then take off towards the Sweet ‘n’ Soul Bar instead, where you’ll be able to soak up the atmosphere in an altogether more relaxing setting. For a less crazy evening, but one that certainly doesn’t lack any flair, get yourself over to Zico’s Brazilian steak house and bar, and bear witness to some authentic, sexy samba dancing at its very best.
Although it plays second fiddle to Chaweng, Lamai is also a fantastic option for anyone looking to explore Ko Samui nightlife. Better still, Lamai often tends to be less expensive in terms of both drinks and entrance fees to clubs, while the vibe is also a little more relaxed and less hectic. Apart from the nightclubs and its plentiful supply of lively beer bars, Lamai is also well-known for its slightly seedier side – with raunchy female-only mud wrestling contests and a fair share of lady boy shows!
The main center of Ko Samui nightlife in Lamai lies in and around the Night Plaza and the Round Bars area of town, while those looking for live music should scoot on over to the Bikers and Rockers Bar, which is renowned across Samui for its superb live rock acts.
Evening entertainment can also be found across other parts of Samui, for instance in Bophut or Mae Nam, although the action is considerably quieter than what Chaweng and Lamai has to offer, mainly being limited to restaurants and bars (no noisy nightclubs!).
The great thing about Ko Samui nightlife is that there is so much to offer, and due to the relatively small size of the island, it can all be easily reached from Laem Sett Beach, which provides transportation links in the form of a private car hire or regular shuttle buses to the island’s main destinations.
